Grok Bot Mobile App

type: conceptconfidence: mediumupdated: 2026-10-21sources: 11

Definition

The Grok Bot mobile app is a client for iPhone, iPad and Android. You use it to start work, answer Bots' questions, approve steps and review results away from your desk. It connects to the same Bots, conversations, routines, connectors and shared cloud computer as the desktop app. Work keeps running in the cloud when the app is closed (x.ai mobile page).

How It Works

Requirements and install

Item Value
iPhone iOS 18 or later. Install from the App Store
iPad iPadOS 18 or later (runs the iOS app)
Android Android 9 or later. Install from Google Play (package ai.x.grok.bot)
Plan The same eligible plans as desktop. See plans and access
Network Internet connection

Managed devices: both deployment pages say to push Android through managed Google Play from Intune or another Android device management tool. iPhone users install from the App Store (enterprise deployment).

Sign in and set up

  1. Open Grok Bot and choose Log In or Sign Up.
  2. Complete Cursor authentication in the browser.
  3. Return to the app. If your access comes from SuperGrok, choose Link Grok Account, finish linking in the browser, then choose Finished Linking? Refresh My Status.
  4. New users take the first-run tour, choose a first Bot and wait while the shared computer is set up. Existing users go straight to their synced Bot list.

The Cursor get-started page adds that access from your plan or SuperGrok link "carries over without a second purchase". It also links a "Subscribe from the mobile app" help page for accounts without access.

What you can do on mobile

  • Message a Bot:
    • send text
    • Start dictation
    • Start voice chat, used when the composer is empty. While the call is live, a Voice chat control stays under the header
    • play a voice memo
    • take or attach a photo, or attach a file
    • mention another Bot or @everyone in a group
    • reply in a thread, or react to a message
  • Drafts: they are saved per conversation. When a Bot prepares an email or Slack draft, choose Send or Discard.
  • Share sheet:
    • On iPhone, choose Grok Bot, pick a chat, then Attach. This works for photos, files, links and text.
    • On Android, the share sheet "currently accepts text".
  • Bots and groups: the + control → New Bot or New Group Chat. You can also edit profiles, manage members, pin or hide conversations, and delete a Bot.
  • Computer:
    • Watch the work, or inspect the current screen.
    • Take over for a password, 2FA code or CAPTCHA, then hand back with I'm done.
    • It is the same shared computer every Bot uses.
  • Approvals: Allow once, Always allow and Deny work the same on iPhone as on desktop.
  • Routines: in a Bot's profile, view the schedule, next run, instruction and Run history, use Active to pause or resume, or delete the routine.
  • Search: filter by Messages, Bots, Group Chats, Files, Routines or All.
  • Settings:
    • account
    • plugins
    • Bot settings
    • Auto Review (when available)
    • appearance
    • Language: System follows the device, and the list is shorter than on desktop
    • usage, or an App Store or Google Play subscription
    • sign out or delete your account

Key Parameters

Parameter Value
Minimum OS iOS 18 / iPadOS 18 / Android 9
Desktop-only actions Editing a routine's schedule or instruction, and testing routines. Teaching a workflow by demonstration. "Some advanced desktop controls". The Cursor page also lists "updating the computer"
Notification routing While you use the desktop app on macOS or Windows, notifications from Bots you own go to the desktop. When a Bot needs input, your phone is notified about 3 minutes later unless you act first. Finished replies skip the phone. On Linux, the phone is notified as usual
Notification permission Requested during first run. Both the device permission and the Bot's Notifications setting must allow it

When To Use

Use mobile to approve or deny actions, unblock a Bot with a takeover, start quick tasks by voice or share sheet, and pause routines. Use desktop to build or test routines, teach workflows and use advanced settings (skills routines and automations, settings and notifications).

Risks & Pitfalls

  • Android support differs by source and date.
    • x.ai docs: the x.ai mobile, FAQ, get-started and overview pages list Android (Android 9 or later on the mobile and FAQ pages).
    • Cursor docs: the Cursor deployment page also lists Android 9 or later, but the Cursor grok-bot.md overview page says the mobile app runs "on iPhone", and the Cursor get-started page covers iOS only.
    • At launch, Gigazine (2026-08-12) reported that an Android version was not available.
    • Treat Android as available per the x.ai docs fetched 2026-10-21.
  • The Android share sheet is text-only for now.
  • Missing phone notifications often come from routing: the desktop app is "in use". Check that before you suspect a bug.
  • Taking over on mobile acts on the shared computer. Anything you sign into there is available to every Bot on your account.
